Home to several gorgeous historic buildings, Waconia is proud of the fact that a number of these structures are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In this area near Lake Waconia, lakeside cottages and houseboats were built back in the late 1800s and early 1900s. These historic structures were once summer homes for many affluent people in the area, and now they are preserved for future generations to enjoy.

The city of Waconia is served by several private schools and public schools within its city limits. These schools range from elementary level up through high school, and local parents feel that the educational system here in Waconia is of a high quality.
