This, in turn, makes residents feel safe that crime rates will stay low, even as the city continues to grow in population. In fact, Sterling Heights ranks in the top 13% of city safety in the United States over all, which is something this city can be proud of as it continues to grow out of the economic recession that caused so many problems in Detroit and elsewhere.

In addition to a strong police force, Sterling Heights has great partnerships with school districts and strong relationships with the Sterling Heights business community. With good schools, good teachers, and thriving businesses/commercial interests, citizens of Sterling Heights are encouraged to stay and help build up the community further. Neighborhood watch groups coordinate with local authorities to keep the streets safe, and there is a mutual trust between population and powers-that-be that struggles in other parts of the country.

Rather than focus on all the shortcomings of a given situation, students would be well advised to focus on the good—even if they are struggling to maintain good grades.
