About Lower Merion
According to Lower Merion Township tutors one of the most famous basketball players of all time was educated in Lower Merion High School. Athlete Kobe Bryant (now retired) played basketball professionally for twenty years beginning his career directly out of Lower Merion High. He was recognized at High School level as being the best basketball player in the country and when it was time to graduate Bryant declared for the NBA draft.
Ever so briefly it looked as though Bryant’s career would begin at least with a stint at the Charlotte Hornets, however Lower Merion Township tutors say the Hornets foolishly traded him to the Lakers. Starting from that moment, Bryant’s entire career was based playing ball with the Los Angeles Lakers. This is very unusual for a player, he unlike many other players who readily move between teams, remained loyal to the Lakers and with the team went on to win five NBA championships. Kobe Bryant was and is undoubtedly a fan favorite and his accomplishments within the sport have exceeded all expectations. His accolades include being an eighteen time All-Star, a fifteen time All-NBA Team member and a twelve time member of the All-Defensive Team.
In following a career in basketball, Bryant was following his father’s footsteps. His father did not achieve the same level of success as his son, but none-the-less was a player in the NBA, which is a very big deal. Kobe Bryant broke many records and won many MVP awards throughout his career, however he could not beat Will Chamberlain’s 100 point game, the closest that Bryant managed to accomplish was 81 points in a Lakers game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006. After a few injuries sadly Bryant’s play began to deteriorate. He continued to play after he suffered damage to his Achilles tendon, which understandably affected his range of movement around the court and no doubt caused him much pain. Even with the injury he was still one of the best players in the world, he just wasn’t able to be as nimble as he previously was. After the Achilles injury he then suffered more physical damage, sustaining injuries to both his knee and shoulder. When it became apparent that he would not be able to continue playing at the level he had set for himself he announced that he would be retiring. He left behind him an impressive record, which is going to be difficult for any player to match let alone beat. He even won Olympic medals during his illustrious career.
