About Dublin
Dublin, a long-time standout city of Northern California, has deep roots in educational appreciation. This is evidenced in its careful construction and preservation of the Murray Schoolhouse, originally built on Flanagan Lane.
Soon afterward, it was clear that the boggy ground of Flanagan Lane was subject to flooding, and the foundations of the school would be subject to sinkage. With horse and oxen, wagons, and careful community collaboration, the residents moved the schoolhouse to Dublin Canyon Road. On Dublin Canyon Road, the schoolhouse stood for over 100 years. It served the needs of the Dublin community year after year, with young and old students passing through its sturdy room, sitting at its desks, and then going on to great things as a result of their education. The dedication of the community to this schoolhouse, however, did not stop at Dublin Canyon Road.
Eventually, Dublin outgrew the one-room schoolhouse and built new schools with a steady growth in population over the twentieth century. In the 1970s, Interstate 580 was to be widened, and the schoolhouse was in the path of the newer lanes. Rather than tear it down, though, Dublin city planners and residents rallied to have the schoolhouse moved once again. This time, however, it would be transported with modern house movers, and eventually came to reside on the Dublin Heritage Park and Museum grounds, where it still stands today.
The simple façade, siding, and tower hearken back to an earlier time, but still preserve the aesthetic we associate with traditional education. Moreover, it is evidence that the community values a traditional education, with dedication and work ethic principal players in learning. Dublin’s schools that currently function in their capacities—with thousands of students that pass through them year by year—are bolstered by the enduring presence of the original schoolhouse of Dublin.
Much like the schoolhouse, Grade Potential tutors in Dublin go from here to there to serve the needs of their students. They endure as dedicated servants of the community, utilizing traditional and non-traditional methods to reach struggling clients—meeting their individual needs with precision and dedication. Tutoring, so long associated with the importance of education, is nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of pursuing for the average student. Instead, think of tutors as long-term participants in the tradition of education that thrives in Dublin.
