About Delhi
Delhi Township is tucked into the southwestern corner of Ohio, but don't let that fool you. By no means is Delhi Township unimportant in any way! This thriving, vibrant township is one of a dozen in Hamilton County, and its rich history and family-friendly community sets it apart from anywhere else. With a moderately small population, residents of Delhi township love the tight-knit community and the safety of the neighborhoods here. Whether you're a resident or just a tourist passing through, Delhi Township has a lot to offer.
An important point that comes up a lot here in Delhi Township is the pronunciation of the city's name. Named after the city in India, Delhi Township pronounces "Delhi" the same way as its namesake. Many new residents or tourists visiting for the first time will pronounce it like the place in a market where you can buy meat and cheese — "deli". Instead, use this helpful guide — think "del-high" when saying the name, and you'll nail it, just like a long-time local! Nothing is worse, or more embarrassing, than visiting a new place for the first time and messing up the name!
One of the amazing local historical sites that you must visit if you're ever in Delhi Township is the Sedam Springhouse. The Sedam Springhouse is completely made of stone, and has been dated to the late 1700s. It has been restored several times, to maintain this piece of history for generations to come.
An obscure and fun local tradition is the local Delhi Township Skirt Game. All in the name of local charity, the local police department and the local fire department play a competitive softball game at a local field, all while dressed up in drag! A family-friendly and fun-loving event for all ages, the Skirt Game happens once a year and all of the money and proceeds go to a local charity that benefits families in Delhi Township that live in poverty and need financial help. Beside the game, there are other fun activities, including carnival games, and of course many treats available at the concessions stand!
There are many local parks here in Delhi Township, and it's one reason why families love living here. With a wide variety of athletic fields and playgrounds, there are also many nature paths and open green spaces to enjoy. Delhi Township boasts over one hundred acres of public parks, and these public spaces are maintained by the Great Parks of Hamilton County department of parks and recreational services.
Served by the Oak Hills Local School District, Delhi Township is home to two public elementary schools, two public middle schools, and two public high schools. The Deli Township branch of the local public library system provides many programs to the local kids here in Delhi Township, including several after-school programs. For students that need extra help, local Delhi Township tutors are also available. These local tutors can meet with each student one-on-one to help them achieve their educational goals.
