Families love the parks and recreational facilities available in Bloomington. There are so many beautiful outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy. The Hyland Lake Park Preserve is a local favorite, popular throughout the seasons. In the winter, it is a ski destination, and in the summer, Hyland Lake Park Preserve is popular for hiking, biking, kayaking on the lake, and any other outdoor activity imaginable. The Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge is another really popular destination in the city of Bloomington, as it preserves the natural habitat of the region.

Bloomington used to be home to the Minnesota Vikings football team and the Minnesota Twins baseball team. In the 1980s, however, fans were sad to see those teams leave the city and take up residents elsewhere in Minnesota. Thankfully, these teams moved to the Metrodome in Minneapolis, which isn't far away for spirited fans to still be able to attend their favorite team's games. Old fans will remember the days when the teams hailed from Bloomington, however.

Families are happy with the education system in Bloomington. In the late 1990s, a very large bond measure was approved, providing funding to revamp the local schools and improve educational facilities city-wide. Numerous public elementary schools, several public middle schools, and two public high school serve the city of Bloomington. Several private school and charter school options are also available.
