The City of Invention, people say, talking of Akron, Ohio today. When area rubber production shifted bases and dropped, the city shifted into growing decline. Blue collar labor jobs dwindled. But the University of Akron and other enterprising organizations started the growing research of the high technology industries that fuel Akron’s thriving job growth today.
